Nicole Kidman will play a male painter who has a sex change in a new movie.
The Australian actress will portray artist Einar Wegener,
who had gender reassignment surgery to become a woman in the 1930s.
Tomas Alfredson will direct The Danish Girl, which is based on a book
by David Ebershoff about Wegener, the first person to have a sex change.
The filmmaker told the trade mag they "are soon going into production" on the drama.
Hancock actress Charlize Theron had been in the frame
to play the painter's wife but recently left the project.
